These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Contractor Tax Tools, the website, calculators, guides and related pages available at contractortaxtools.com ("the Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Use of the Service

Contractor Tax Tools provides free, browser-based calculators and educational content for freelancers and contractors, including a UK IR35 status checker and take-home estimator and US self-employment, gig and state tax calculators. You may use the Service for personal, educational, and professional purposes, subject to these Terms and applicable law.

2. Estimates only — not professional advice

All figures produced by the Service are estimates for general information only. The Service is not financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and no accountant–client or adviser–client relationship is created by using it. Tax rules change and vary by individual circumstances. Always confirm figures with official sources such as the IRS or HMRC, or with a qualified professional, before acting. 3. Your data and responsibility

The calculators run locally in your browser. We do not upload or store the numbers you enter. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for reviewing any result before relying on it for tax, financial, or business decisions.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, abusive, or fraudulent activity.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape aggressively, or compromise the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Misrepresent the Service as your own or remove proprietary notices.
  • Generate artificial advertising impressions or clicks, or otherwise violate advertising program policies.

5. Advertising and monetization

The Service may display advertising, including Google AdSense or other third-party ads, to keep the tools free. Ads are separate from our calculators, navigation, and editorial content. You agree not to artificially interact with ads or encourage others to do so.

6. Intellectual property

The Service's design, branding, text, layout, and code are owned by Contractor Tax Tools or its licensors and protected by applicable law. The figures you enter and the results you generate remain yours; we claim no ownership over them.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any figure is accurate or suitable for your circumstances.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Contractor Tax Tools and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the Service — including any tax under- or over-payment, penalty, loss of data, profits, or business.

9. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update, add, remove, or discontinue any part of the Service, and revise these Terms, at any time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
